I'm not sure how many names I'll be able to come up with for tonight's Saturday Night Genealogy Fun challenge from Randy Seaver.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission: Impossible! music), is:
1. Who are your 32 3rd-great-grandparents? List them (with birth names). Tell us when and where they were born, married, and died. [NOTE: This is easily done in your genealogy software program or online family tree by making an Ahnentafel or Ancestors report from yourself as #1, then copy and paste.]
2. Share your list of your third-great-grands on your own blog post or in a Facebook, SubStack, or BlueSky post. Leave a link on this blog post to help us find your post.
Let's see how well I do.

Not anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Seven totally unknown names, and for one of those I do have a small amount of hypothesized information. For the 27 with names, only four are missing surnames. It could have been much worse.

You have the same number of unknowns as I do and a lot more first-name-onlys.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too surprised that I have more first-name-onlies. They're all on my Jewish side. I may never learn their names.
DeleteWhy does your list start with #34?
ReplyDeleteBecause that is the first Ahnentafel number for a 3rd-great-grandparent. I followed Randy's example and used the Ahnentafel numbers for my list.
DeleteI know how you feel with the unknowns, and even for those I know the name, that's really about it other than they were parents of a 2nd great-grandparent. I loved seeing more Eastern European names here 😊
ReplyDeleteHooray for Eastern European genealogy! I felt bad that I didn't know much more, so I've really worked on at least coming up with some kind of a year for marriage and birth, based on what I know about the 2nd-great-grandparents.
DeleteThe makeup of your tree is so similar to Teresa's and mine - half Eastern European and half mostly colonial American English lines. A genea-friend of mine is also a Lippincott descendant. That always sticks in my mind because of the publishing company.
ReplyDeleteLippincotts are an old Quaker family. I'm sure your genea-friend and I are related, but it might be many generations back.
DeleteThe unknowns are tough and I really hope you get a DNA breakthrough that reveals #32-35.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Those numbers are from my unknown great-grandfather, the biological father of my paternal grandfather. Still a work in progress!
DeleteI wish I could do for mine! So lost at this point 😢
ReplyDeleteI wish I could help!
