April 15 has some well known historical events associated with it.  It's the day Abraham Lincoln died, the day the Titanic sank, and the day U.S. income taxes are due.  But Tax Day didn't fall on April 15 until 1955, which makes it more understandable why someone would choose to be married on that day in 1944.

Mary Laura Gunn was born April 15, 1873 in Pennsylvania.  She was married to Samuel Ferguson Sellers, son of Samuel G. Sellers and Anna C. Ferguson, who is my 4th cousin 3x removed.

Frieda Schneiderman, daughter of Sam Schneiderman and Annie Rachel Petranovsky, was born April 15, 1908 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  She is my 1st cousin 3x removed.

Paulding Foote Sellers, Jr., son of Paulding Foote Sellers and Helen Christy Clubb, was born April 15, 1909 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York.  He is my 5th cousin 3x removed.

Sadie Garber, daughter of Zelig Garber and Ida Mekler, was born April 15, 1912 in Canada, probably in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  She is my 2nd cousin 2x removed via the Meklers.

Isaac Garfinkel, son of Morris Garfinkel and Mirka Ajzner, was born April 15, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  He is my 3rd cousin once removed on my Meckler line through the Garfinkels.

Elizabeth Shearer died April 15, 1847 at the age of 35, possibly in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  She was married to Joel Sellers, son of Tobias Sellers and Elizabeth Faber, who is my 1st cousin 4x removed.

Hananiah Selah Gaunt, son of Hananiah Gaunt and Rebecca Mulliner, died April 15, 1852 at the age of 57 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 3rd-great-grandfather.

William Allen Gaunt, son of John B. Gaunt and Priscilla Dye, died April 15, 1921 at the age of 59 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana.  He is my 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Elmer Ferguson Sellers, son of Samuel G. Sellers and Anna C. Ferguson, died April 15, 1956 at the age of 88 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 4th cousin 3x removed.

Lynda Jean Bowen Browning was born April 14, 1983.  She is the 1st cousin once removed of my half-sister, Laurie Sellers.

David Allen was born April 14, 1985.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line.

Brandon Gregory Myhan was born April 14, 1987 in Los Angeles County, California.  He is the 1st cousin 2x removed of my aunt Mary McStroul.

Thomas Arthur Johnson, son of John Daniel Johnson and Elizabeth S. Atkinson, died April 14, 1990 at the age of 91, possibly in Rutherford, Bergen County, New Jersey.  He is my 2nd cousin 3x removed on my Fox line through the Johnsons.

Because this year April 13 fell on a Friday, I was curious to see which, if any, of the April 13 events in my family fell on Fridays.  It turns out that Kenneth O'Brien's birthday and the deaths of Almira Githens and Irving Gershwind were on Fridays.  Unlike the brave souls who married on April Foo's Day, apparently no one wanted to risk a Friday the 13th wedding, at least not in April.

Celia Perlmutter, daughter of Maishe Eli Perlmutter and Ethel Nowicki, died April 9, 1980 at the age of about 96 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.  She is my 2nd cousin 2x removed via the Nowickis.

William Richardson Chase, son of Alfred Joseph Chase and Emma Naylor, died April 9, 2000 at the age of 82 in Burlington, Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 3rd cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Naylors.

I'm quite a bit shy of knowing the names of all of my 3rd-great-grandparents, much less their birth and death years.  I'm missing several of my 2nd-great-grandparents also, but proportionally not as many, so I'll list those as well as I can.  And I don't use Ahnentafel numbers.

I have reasonable information on only twelve of my sixteen great-great-grandparents.  I don't know the name of my paternal grandfather's father, so those great-great-grandparents are also unknown.  I know the names of my material grandfather's paternal grandparents, but I have no birth information and only very rough delineators for their deaths.  Even so, the birth years for half of my 2nd-great-grandparents (coincidentally, all of the Jewish ones) are very rough estimates.  On the other hand, the death years are estimates only for Joel Armstrong and Sarah Lippincott.

The average birth year for these ancestors is 1853, ranging from 1831 to 1871.  The average death year is 1913, ranging from 1873 to 1948.

The average lifespan is 61, covering a wide range of 33 to 90 (both of whom were men).  The average lifespan for men is 63, while the average for women is 58.
