I have noticed the spelling Ethyl many times in my family tree for women in the 19th century and earlier.  I wonder when it shifted to Ethel?

Ethyl May Votaw, daughter of Daniel W. Votaw and Louisa Gaunt, was born October 6, 1887 in Wabash County, Indiana.  She is my 3rd cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Owen M. Walker was born October 6, 1911 in New Point, Decatur County, Indiana.  He was the husband of Marguerite Maureen Thackeray, daughter of Logan Thackeray and Virginia Steele, who is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line through the Thackerays.

Thomas Daniel Swain, son of Thomas Daniel Swain and Rachel Anna Armstrong, was born October 6, 1919 in Norfolk City, Virginia.  He is my 1st cousin 2x removed on my Armstrong line.

Wanda Joan Hutson, daughter of Calvin William Hutson and Berdella Martha Elisa Abplanalp, was born October 6, 1932 in Penntown, Ripley County, Indiana.  She is my 6th cousin 1x removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons.

Zena Koffman was born October 6, 1949 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  She is the wife of David Lieff, son of Sam Lieff and Libby Kardish, who is my 2nd cousin 1x removed on my Gorodetsky line via the Kardishes.

Bonnie Sue Sellers, daughter of George Russell Sellers and Joan Barbara Haypak, was born October 6, 1954 in Camden, Camden County, New Jersey.  She is my 2nd cousin on my Sellers line.

Katherine Rose Pavao was born October 6, 1971.  She is my 5th cousin 2x removed.

Anthony John Foster was born October 6, 1985.  He is also my 5th cousin 2x removed.

Lucas James Pollack was born October 6, 1991.  He is my 3rd cousin.

Marriages

Donald Lawrence Lederman, son of Gabriel William Lederman and Anna Gordon (originally Chantse Gorodetsky), and Miriam Jaffe were married October 6, 1951 in Bronx, Bronx County, New York.  Donald is my 1st cousin 2x removed via the Gorodetskys.

William Thomas Spencer III, son of William Thomas Spencer, Jr. and Jeanette E. Hudson, and Robin Ellis were married October 6, 1972.  William III is my 5th cousin 1x removed on my Gauntt line via the Hudsons.

Deaths

Henriette Mayer/Hollander died October 6, 1827 in Gleiwitz, Obersilesia, Prussia at the age of 51.  She is the 3x-great-grandmother of my aunt Mary McStroul and her sister Jean McStroul and the 4x-great-grandmother of my 1st cousin Todd Meckler, not-quite-cousin Angela Williams, and Mindy McStroul.

Mary Sheets died October 6, 1873 in Salem Township, Columbiana County, Ohio at the age of 69.  She was the wife of Benjamin Gaunt, son of Jacob Gaunt and Hannah Holmes, who is my 1st cousin 5x removed via the Gaunts.

Jacob Gaunt, son of Joseph Gaunt and Phoebe Emily Severn, died October 6, 1908 in Dunkirk, Jay County, Indiana at the age of 81.  He is my 2nd cousin 4x removed via the Gaunts.

Chauncey P. "Mack" Gaunt, son of Arthur Lee Gaunt and Rachel Lavinia Stutsman, died October 6, 1964 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana at the age of 68.  He is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Events in My Family Tree: September 1

So Charles Lee Gaunt was born September 1.  Then he got married on September 1.  And then his daughter Treva Louise was married on September 1.  Plus Mark Perlman married on his father's 42nd wedding anniversary.  Sounds like some nice family traditions they have going.

Michael E. Merydith was born September 1, 1955 in Indiana.  He was the husband of Georgette Helen Bonifas, daughter of Charles D. Bonifas, Jr. and Janell Wilkinson, who is my 6th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Bonifases.

Daniel Shawn Pavao was born September 1, 1974.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed.

Marriages

Allen Sever and Elizabeth Ann Gaunt, daughter of Hananiah Selah Gaunt and Abigail Atkinson, were married September 1, 1842 in Marlton, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Elizabeth is my great-great-grandaunt.

Charles Lee Gaunt, son of David Clinton Gaunt and Martha Sophronia Hartman, and Bertha Wilson were married September 1, 1906 in Wabash County, Indiana.  As noted above, Charles is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

John Calhoun Caldwell and Treva Louise Gaunt, daughter of Charles Lee Gaunt and Bertha Wilson, were married September 1, 1934 in Jay County, Indiana.  Treva is my 5th cousin once removed via the Gaunts.

Richard Perlman, son of Rubin Perlman and Miriam Kramer, and Patricia Livingston were married September 1, 1960 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  Dick is my 2nd cousin once removed on my Nowicki line through the Perlmans.

Samuel Lee Faust and Deanna Clark, daughter of Charles Robert Clark and Dorthea Virginia Lynch, were married September 1, 1968 in La Fontaine, Wabash County, Indiana.  Deanna is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Clarks.

Gary Lewis Rudin, son of Raymond Harold Rudin and Ruth Garfinkel, and Dianne Lea Palitil were married September 1, 1991 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  Gary is my 4th cousin on my Meckler line via the Garfinkels.

Mark Harris Perlman and Darcey Fox Bromberg were married September 1, 2002 in La Jolla, San Diego County, California.  Mark is my 3rd cousin.

Deaths

Frank Gaunt, son of Walter Clayton Gaunt and Lulu May Sherman, died September 1, 1944 in Paris, France at the age of 25.  He was with the U.S. Army's 83rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, during World War II and died soon after the liberation of Paris from the Nazis.  He is my 5th cousin once removed via the Gaunts.

Elizabeth Leatherberry Sundermeier died September 1, 1979 in Pleasantville, Atlantic County, New Jersey at the age of 73.  She was the first wife of Bertram Lynn Sellers, Sr., son of Cornelius Elmer Sellers and Laura May Armstrong, who is my paternal grandfather.

Elizabeth I. Gaunt, daughter of Rinaldo Wise Gaunt and Eulalia Marie Rice, died September 1, 1998 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana at the age of 73.  She is my 6th cousin via the Gaunts.
