July 4 is obviously an important date for my cousin Dick Perlman:  It's the birthday of both of his parents and his wife!

Births

Caroline Horner was born July 4, 1819 in New Jersey.  She was the wife of Samuel M. Gaunt, son of John Gaunt and Elizabeth Kirby, who is my 3rd cousin 4x removed via the Gaunts.

Arthur George Barnett was born July 4, 1907 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  He was the third husband of Catherine Marie Sellers, daughter of Cornelius Elmer Sellers and Laura May Armstrong, who is my grandaunt.

Thomas Bassett was also born July 4, 1907, but in Oklahoma.  He was the husband of Marjorie Alene Gaunt, daughter of Charles Gaunt and Pearl E. Cory, who is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Rubin Perlman, son of Louis Perlman and Jennie Nowicki, was born July 4, 1909 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  He is my 1st cousin 2x removed via the Nowickis.

Miriam Kramer was born July 4, 1910 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  She was the wife of Rubin Perlman, above. so husband and wife had the same birthday (but they didn't get married on July 4)!

Martha Wickham, daughter of William Henry Wickham and Malvina Fermet, was born July 4, 1912 in Essex County, New Jersey.  She is the 2nd cousin once removed of my half-sister Laura Sellers on her Bowen line.

Iva Imogene Calvert was born July 4, 1931 in New Jersey.  She was the wife of Albert Giberson Ellis, son of Levi Ellis and Carrie Florence Gauntt, who is my 1st cousin once removed via the Gauntts.

Patricia Livingston was born July 4, 1939 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  She is/was the wife of Richard Perlman, son of Rubin Perlman and Miriam Kramer (both above), who is my 2nd cousin once removed via the Perlmans.

Barbara Jane Gaunt, daughter of Harvey Joseph Gaunt, Jr. and June Jacqueline Read, was born July 4, 1949 in Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey.  She is my 3rd cousin via the Gaunts.

Sheryl Millstein, daughter of Irwin Millstein and Julia Baena, was born July 4, 1956 in Connecticut.  She is my 2nd cousin once removed on my Gorodetsky line through the Millsteins.

Carla Maria Martinez was born July 4, 1970.  She is the wife of Andrew Eugene Meckler, who is my 1st cousin.

Eileen Von Schmidt was born July 4, 1972.  She is my 5th cousin 2x removed.

Natalie Rose Brainin was born July 4, 1994.  She is my 3rd cousin.

Mariah Dawn Meckler was born July 4, 2000.  She is my 1st cousin once removed.

Marriages

Daniel W. Votaw and Louisa Gaunt, daughter of Uz Gaunt and Sarah Ann Whitacre, were married July 4, 1868 in Pioneer, Wabash County, Indiana.  Louisa is my 2nd cousin 4x removed via the Gaunts.

James Knox Polk Gaunt, son of Uz Gaunt and Sarah Ann Whitacre, and Sarah Naomi Boone were married July 4, 1873 in Indiana, probably in Wabash County.  James is also my 2nd cousin 4x removed via the Gaunts because he is the brother of Louisa Gaunt, above.

Roscoe Sherman Flynn and Edna May Gauntt, daughter of Thomas Kirkland Gauntt and Jane Dunstan, were married July 4, 1920 in Hainesport, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Edna is my grandaunt.

Gerald E. White and Ruth Carrie Stradling, daughter of Charles Cooper Stradling and Anna Gauntt, were married July 4, 1935 in Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Ruth is my half-aunt.

Clarence Gilbert Lore, son of Clarence Newcomb Lore and Dorothy Mae Sellers, and Clara Eve Mullens were married July 4, 1974 in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.  Gil is my half 1st cousin.

David Charles Ellis, son of Harold Levi Ellis and Josephine Fiori, and Joanne F. Leone were married July 4, 1982 in New Jersey.  David is my 2nd cousin on my Gauntt line through the Ellises.

Dale R. Williams and Marie Lynn Lore, daughter of Albert Lynn Lore and Linda Carol Griffith, were married July 4, 1981, possibly in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.  Marie is my 1st cousin once removed on my Sellers line through the Lores.

Deaths

Aloha Emily Vaughn, daughter of John E. Vaughn and Bertha Florence Gaunt, died July 4, 1920 in Kings County, California at the age of 1 year and 11 months.  She is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Edward C. Ogden died July 1939 in Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey at the age of 70.  He was the husband of Anna Elizabeth Gaunt, daughter of George Horner Gaunt and Emily A. Miller, who is my 4th cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Anna M. McElwee, daughter of David P. McElwee and Mary Virginia Gaunt, died July 4, 1964 in Easthampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey at the age of 61.  Anna is my 2nd cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Events in My Family Tree: March 28

After March 27 having so many family events, now it's back to a short list.  What was special about March 27?  On the other hand, it's always nice to have a date with no deaths.

Daniel Gantt (origiinally Gaunt), son of Joseph Gaunt and Mary A. Lobaugh, was born March 28, 1797, possibly in Perry County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 1st cousin 5x removed.

Annie T. Gaunt, daughter of Clayton Decou Gaunt and Sarah E. Edwards, was born March 28, 1851 in Gloucester County, New Jersey.  She is my 4th cousin 3x removed.

Matilda C. Githens, daughter of Thomas Githens and Mary Gaunt, was born March 28, 1859 in New Jersey.  She is my 2nd cousin 4x removed via the Gaunts.

Mary Etta Smith, daughter of James Smith and Orpha Baker, was born March 28, 1866 in Thurman, Warren County, New York.  She is the great-grandmother of my aunt Mary McStroul.

Paul Yates, son of Charles Yates and Grace Allen, was born March 28, 1958, probably in Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Allens.

Dean Von Schmidt was born March 28, 1975.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line.

Tobias Samuel Linkin was born March 28, 2005 in Miami, Dade County, Florida.  He is my 2nd cousin once removed on my Gordon line.

Marriage

David Floyd McHenry and Madeline Rochelle Redtfeldt, daughter of Gordon Ardel Redtfeldt and Lucille J. Vaughn, were married on March 28, 1970 in Los Angeles County, California.  Rochelle is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Vaughns.

Events in My Family Tree: January 22

Woo hoo!  I'm almost caught up.  I'm not sure why, but what I noticed about this list of events was the divorces.  My Aunt Ruth was married three times, as my nephew Joel has been.  I've often wondered if my family runs higher than average for divorce; in four generations of Sellerses I once counted twenty divorces.

Solomon Gorgas, son of Jacob Gorgas and Christina Mack, was born January 22, 1764 in Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 2nd cousin 6x removed through the Macks.

Jacob Gaunt, son of Joseph Gaunt and Elizabeth Borton, was born January 22, 1765 in Little Egg Harbor, Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 4th great-granduncle.

Ann Cressman was born January 22, 1821.  She was married to Samuel Sellers, son of Peter Sellers and Susanna, who is my 2nd cousin 4x removed.

Francis M. Elder Stirling, son of George Howard Stirling and Mary Sellers, was born January 22, 1901 in Garrison Station, Green Spring Valley, Baltimore County, Maryland.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed.

Elmer Peterson was born January 22, 1909, possibly in Minnesota.  He was the third husband of Ruth Carrie Stradling, daughter of Charles Cooper Stradling and Anna Gauntt, who is my paternal aunt.

Abraham Snyder, son of Sam Schneiderman and Annie Rachel Petranovsky, was born January 22, 1910 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  He is my 1st cousin 3x removed through the Schneidermans.

Oliver Franklin Flynn, son of Roscoe Sherman Flynn and Edna May Gauntt, was born January 22, 1931 in Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 1st cousin once removed.

Betty Lorraine Ellett, daughter of Ernest Alexander Douglas Ellett and Sadie Elizabeth Clark, was born January 22, 1935 in Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia.  She is the mother of Jeff Gordon, my 2nd cousin once removed.

Gary Von Schmidt was born January 22, 1974.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed through my Gauntt line.

Caroline Louise Speir Thomson was born January 22, 1976 in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.  She was the second wife of Joel Richard Kent III, my nephew.

Noah Isaac Linkin was born January 22, 2003 in Miami, Dade County, Florida.  He is my 2nd cousin once removed through my Gordon line.

Marriage

Samuel Gaunt, Jr., son of Samuel Gaunt, Sr. and Achsah Taylor, and Ann Horner were married on January 22, 1823, probably in New Jersey.  Samuel Jr. is my 2nd cousin 5x removed.

Deaths

Leah Heinley died January 22, 1901 at the age of 75 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  She was married to Mahlon Absolom Sellers, son of Tobias Sellers and Elizabeth Faber, who is my 1st cousin 4x removed.

George B. Gaunt, son of Benjamin Franklin Gaunt and Mary A. Woolman, died January 22, 1902 at the age of 16 in Burlington, Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 3rd cousin 2x removed.

Chasey Joseph Chase, son of Alfred Joseph Chase and Emma Naylor, died January 22, 1998 at the age of 72 in Beverly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 3rd cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Naylors.
