Events in My Family Tree: August 25

There are lots of simultaneous events in this list.  Three marriages on the same day (and all on my mother's side of the family).  Karen Hendren is being born while Milton Hutson is getting married.  Doris Allen is born the same day that Harry Gaunt dies.  Then 1st cousins Milton Hutson and Lyle Snyder choose to marry on August 25, five years apart, and August 25 is Milton's sister's birthday.

Sarah Anna Gauntt, daughter of James Gauntt and Amelia Gibson, was born August 25, 1864 in Buddtown, Burlington County, New Jersey.  She is my great-grandaunt.

Mabel Major, daughter of Clayton Major, Jr. and Ida May Lippincott, was born August 25, 1895 in Burlington, Burlington County, New Jersey.  She is my 1st cousin 3x removed via the Lippincotts.

Ida Hutson, daughter of Conner W. Hutson and Rosa A. Bultman, was born August 25, 1914 in Indiana, probably in Ripley County.  She is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons.

Luther Edmund Carter was born August 25, 1919 in Lincolnia, Fairfax County, Virginia.  He was the husband of Jacqueline Lee Funk, daughter of Earl G. Funk and Hazel Pauline Gauntt, who is my 3rd cousin once removed via the Gauntts.

William Murphy was born August 25, 1943 in Virginia.  He was the third husband of Patricia Ann Lore, daughter of Clarence Newcomb Lore and Dorothy Mae Sellers, who is my half 1st cousin.

Karen Sue Hendren, daughter of Jack R. Hendren and Mary Scott Selvidge, was born August 25, 1951, possibly in Oklahoma.  She is my 6th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Selvidges.

Doris Allen, daughter of Thomas Gerald Allen and Doris Filer, was born August 25, 1957, maybe in New Jersey.  She is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Allens.

Marriages

Clifford Ellsworth Hutson, son of Bateman Hutson and Lorinda Brown, and Alta Ada Gipson were married August 25, 1922 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana.  Clifford is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons.

Milton Conner Hutson, son of Conner W. Hutson and Rosa A. Bultman, and Doris Wiedeman were married August 25, 1951 in Penntown, Ripley County, Indiana.  Milton is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons, just as his sister Ida (above) is.

Lyle Carlton Snyder, son of Lyle Oscar Snyder and Gertrude Elnora Gaunt, and Evelyn Hemminger were married August 25, 1956 in North Baltimore, Wood County, Ohio.  Lyle is my 5th cousin once removed via the Gaunts.

Gary Steve Meckler, son of Abraham Meckler and Lillyan E. Gordon, and Tammy Renee Cameron were married August 25, 1985 in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada.  Gary is my uncle.

Rolando Castro Gingras and Yedida Zelda Amine, daughter of Moshe Amine and Florence Meckler, also were married August 25, 1985, but in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California.  Yedida is my 1st cousin once removed via the Mecklers and the 1st cousin of Gary Meckler (above).

Seymour R. Schachter and Janet Beth Podolsky, daughter of Arthur Podolsky and Harriet Farbman, were also married August 25, 1985, but they were in New Jersey.  Janet is my 3rd cousin on my Gorodetsky line through the Farbmans.

Deaths

Allen Gaunt, son of Joseph L. Gaunt and Elizabeth Hopkins, died August 25, 1864 at the age of 27 at the Second Battle of Ream's Station, fought during the Siege of Petersburg in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, during the American Civil War.  He is my 2nd cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Solomon Fuller, brother of Lyman Fuller, died August 25, 1886, probably in Warren County, New York, at the age of about 76.  He is the 3x-great-granduncle of my aunt Mary McStroul and her sister Jean McStroul, and 4x-great-granduncle of my not-quite-cousin Angela Williams.

John Miller Gaunt, son of George Horner Gaunt and Emily A. Miller, died August 25, 1909 in Gloucester County, New Jersey at the age of 51.  He is my 4th cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Walter Barker died August 25, 1955 in Muscogee County, Georgia at the age of 53.  He was the husband of Carrie Bell Carwford, daughter of Henry Crawford and America Brooks, who is the great-grandaunt of my not-quite-cousin Angela Williams.

Harry Mark Gaunt, son of Arthur Lee Gaunt and Rachel Lavinia Stutsman, died August 25, 1957, probably in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at the age of 64.  He is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Events in My Family Tree: July 7

Frederick Dunstan was my great-grandmother's brother.  While I was writing about his marriage for this post, I realized that even though he lived in the same area as my grandmother and father, neither one of them ever mentioned him when they talked about family.  It's too late to ask them now, of course, but I wonder if he and my great-grandmother didn't get along.

William Ellsworth Thackeray, son of Thomas B. Thackeray and Phoebe A. Miller, was born July 7, 1876 in Franklin County, Indiana.  He is my 4th cousin 3x removed on my Gauntt line through the Thackerays.

Elizabeth Opal Gaunt, daughter of Charles Edward Gaunt and Sarah Malinda Kennedy, was born July 7, 1896 in Lawrenceburg, Lawrence County, Tennessee.  She is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Dora Sorin was born July 7, 1907 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  She was the wife of Harry Golub, son of Yechail Golubchik and Peshe Mekler, who is my 2nd cousin 2x removed via the Meklers.

Frieda Andree, daughter of Johann Andree and Ernestine Krebs, was born July 7, 1912 in New York, possibly in Manhattan.  She is the 1st cousin once removed of my aunt Mary McStroul through the Krebses.

Merle Gaunt, daughter of Walter Clayton Gaunt and Lulu May Sherman, was born July 7, 1915 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana.  She is my 5th cousin once removed via the Gaunts.

Juanita Fern Slentz, daughter of Andrew Earl Slentz and Bessie Florence Landis, was born July 7, 1920 in Drumright, Creek County, Oklahoma.  She is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Slentzes.

Pearl May Frazier was born July 7, 1937 in Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.  She was the wife of Freddie J. Crawford, son of Preston Crawford and Annie Mariah Dixon, who is the 2nd cousin once removed of my not-quite-cousin Angela Williams.

Robert Franklin Hudson, son of Harry J. Hudson and Irene Elizabeth Allen, was born July 7, 1937 in New Jersey, possibly in Burlington County.  He is my 5th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Allens.

Robbin Patricia McStroul, daughter of Darwin Monroe McStroul and Rose Ruth Bloom, was born July 7, 1939 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.  She is the 1st cousin of my aunt Mary McStroul.

Jane Lois Gauntt, daughter of Thomas Franklin Gauntt and Anna Marie Stayton, was born July 7, 1945 in New Jersey, possibly in Burlington County.  She is my 1st cousin once removed on my Gauntt line.

Kevin Kardash, son of Louis Kardash and Mary Udashkin, was born July 7, 1946 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  He is my 2nd cousin once removed on my Gorodetsky line through the Kardashes.

Allan Zindler was born July 7, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  He is the husband of Elaine Lorie Freitag, daughter of Benny Freitag and Dobby Kushner, who is my 4th cousin on my Meckler line through the Kushners.

Teri Sue Snyder was born July 7, 1963.  She is my 6th cousin.

Andrew Brand Schumeister was born July 7, 1988.  He is my 4th cousin once removed.

Frederick Dunstan, son of Frederick Cleworth Dunstan and Martha Winn, and Anna Waltz Horner were married July 7, 1893 in Rancocas, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Frederick is my great-granduncle.

James Newbill Armstrong and Beatrice Ruth Anna Swain, daughter of Thomas Daniel Swain and Rachel Anna Armstrong, were married July 7, 1928 in Norfolk City, Virginia.  Beatrice is my 1st cousin 2x removed through Rachel Armstrong.

William Thomas Spencer, Jr. and Jeanette E. Hudson, daughter of Harry J. Hudson and Irene Elizabeth Allen, were married July 7, 1951, possibly in New Jersey.  Jeanette is my 5th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Allens and got married on her brother Robert's 14th birthday (above).

Marc Wesley Mallow, son of David Wade Mallow and Mary Alice Gauntt, and Bonnie Louise Gordon were married July 7, 1984 in St. Lucie County, Florida.  Marc is my 2nd cousin via the Gauntts.

Deaths

Mary Linda Gaunt, daughter of Robert Barclay Gaunt and Harriet Prickett, died July 7, 1867 in New Jersey, possibly in Gloucester County, at the age of 16 weeks.  She is my 4th cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Clifford Ellsworth Hutson, Jr., son of Clifford Ellsworth Hutson, Sr. and Alta Ada Gipson, died July 7, 1945 in San Diego County, California at the age of 20.  He is my 6th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons.

Alice Louise Gaunt, daughter of Lewis Allen Gaunt and Opal Esther Westrick, died July 7, 1963 in Ft. Wayne, Allen County, Indiana at the age of 41.  She is my 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Hazel Pearl Gaunt, daughter of Ross B. Gaunt and Mary Ann Dale, also died July 7, 1963 in Indiana, in Hartford, Blackford County, at the age of 71.  She is another 4th cousin 2x removed via the Gaunts.

Tillie Steinberg died June 27, 1983 in Ontario, Ottawa, Canada at the age of 62.  She was the wife of Samuel Kardish, son of Dovid Kardish and Etta Gorodetsky, who is my 1st cousin 2x removed on my Gorodetsky line.

Elizabeth Frances Hoyer, daughter of Rollin Henry Hoyer and Bessie Floreen Schwier, died June 27, 2003 in Aspers, Adams County, Pennsylvania at the age of 84.  She is my 6th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Schwiers.

Gene Dawson Champ, son of Ralph Champ and Lucille Claycomb, died June 27, 2017 in Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana at the age of 94.  He is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Claycombs.

Mildred S. Sellers, daughter of Elmer Ferguson Sellers and Minnie B. Frey, died March 26, 1903 at the age of 11 months in Kennett Square Borough, Chester County, Pennsylvania.  She is my 5th cousin 2x removed.

George Moore "Dickie" Sellers, son of Elmer Cornelius Sellers and Laura May Armstrong, died March 26, 1975 at the age of 66 in Venice, Sarasota County, Florida.  He is my paternal granduncle.

Nellie M. Gaunt, daughter of John Gaunt, Jr. and Mary M. Walter, was born February 9, 1895 in Gloucester City, Camden County, New Jersey.  She is my 4th cousin 2x removed.

Jacob Persoff was born February 9, 1912 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  He was married to Frieda Schneiderman, daughter of Sam Schneiderman and Annie Rachel Petranovsky, who is my 1st cousin 3x removed.

Victor Lederman, son of Gabriel William Lederman and Anna Gordon, was born February 9, 1926 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  He is my 1st cousin 2x removed.

Jeanne Helen Eckert, daughter of Roy Howard Eckert and Mary Elma Easlick, was born February 9, 1952 in Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  She is my 4th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Easlicks.

Nora Walsh was born February 9, 1961 in Brooklyn, Kngs County, New York.  She is my 4th cousin on my Nowicki line.

Erik Johnston was born February 9, 1970.  He is the 2nd cousin once removed of my 1st cousin Albert Lore.

Bram David Bregman was born February 9, 1981 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  He is my 3rd cousin on my Gorodetsky line.

William Mock, son of Alexander Mock and Catherine Hively, and Susan Kling were married on February 9, 1875 in Richland County, Ohio.  Alexander is my 4th cousin 4x removed.

Harry Herman Mackler (originally Meckler), son of Moshe Meckler and Minnie Zelda Nowicki, and Ida Bogus were married on February 9, 1931 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  Harry is my maternal granduncle.

Dora Yelsky, daughter of Ruven Yelsky and Frieda, died February 9, 1936 at the age of about 78 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  She is my maternal great-great-grandmother.

Woo hoo!  I'm almost caught up.  I'm not sure why, but what I noticed about this list of events was the divorces.  My Aunt Ruth was married three times, as my nephew Joel has been.  I've often wondered if my family runs higher than average for divorce; in four generations of Sellerses I once counted twenty divorces.

Elmer Peterson was born January 22, 1909, possibly in Minnesota.  He was the third husband of Ruth Carrie Stradling, daughter of Charles Cooper Stradling and Anna Gauntt, who is my paternal aunt.

Leah Heinley died January 22, 1901 at the age of 75 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  She was married to Mahlon Absolom Sellers, son of Tobias Sellers and Elizabeth Faber, who is my 1st cousin 4x removed.

George B. Gaunt, son of Benjamin Franklin Gaunt and Mary A. Woolman, died January 22, 1902 at the age of 16 in Burlington, Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my 3rd cousin 2x removed.

This is definitely proving to be an educational exericse, and it's improving the data in my family tree.  I'm learning (or relearning) new things as I look up people's events, and I end up filling in small gaps as I go, such as missing counties and some dates.  Plus I'll find I'm intrigued by someone, such as in the post for January 20's events.  I noticed that James Clayton Gaunt was listed as MIA during World War II, so I started hunting for more information about him, and now I have a lot more for his branch of my Gaunts.  Of note in this list for January 21 is the first set of twins to appear.

Heinrich Sellers, son of Philip Henry Sellers and Elizabeth, was born January 21, 1764 in Hilltown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 1st cousin 6x removed.

Elizabeth Gaunt, daughter of John Gaunt and Jean Satterthwaite, was born January 21, 1767, probably in New Jersey.  She is also my 1st cousin 6x removed.

Susan Holsinger, daughter of David Holsinger and Lydia Mack, was born January 21, 1822, possibly in Franklin County, Pennsylvania.  She is my 2nd cousin 5x removed via the Macks.

Walter Foote Sellers, son of Edwin Elias Sellers and Olive Lay Foote, was born January 21, 1880 in Fort Mackinac, Mackinac County, Michigan.  He is my 4th cousin 3x removed.

Twins Adeline and Evaline Votaw, daughters of Daniel W. Votaw and Louisa Gaunt, were born January 21, 1883 in Wabash County, Indiana.  They are my 3rd cousins 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Eleanor Malinda Eckman, daughter of John Eckman and Martha Johnson Atkinson, was born January 21, 1902 in New Jersey.  She is the sister of my grandaunt Bertha Poinsett Eckman and granduncle Edwin Bunting Eckman.

Mabel Helen Gaunt, daughter of Joseph L. Gauntt and Rebecca Elizabeth Coverly, was born January 21, 1905 in New Jersey, probably in Burlingotn County.  She is my 4th cousin once removed.

Jessie Ozley Easlick, daughter of Vinton Thompson Easlick and Beulah Anna Elizabeth Bozarth, was born January 21, 1930, possibly in New Jersey.  She is my 4th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Easlicks.

Lyle Carlton Snyder was born January 21, 1934.  He is my 5th cousin once removed through my Gauntt line.

Matthew Aaron Armstrong was born January 21, 2005.  He is my 4th cousin once removed through my Meckler line.

Marriage

Jason Lawrence Samuel Birnboim and Jennifer Andrew Kaufmann were married on January 21, 2008 in Palmilla, Los Cabos, Mexico.  Jason is my 4th cousin through my Meckler line.

Deaths

Samuel Sellers, son of Samuel Sellers and Barbara Ann Wampole, died January 21, 1836 at the age of 1 1/2 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 3rd cousin 4x removed.

Thomas Kirkland Gauntt, son of James Gauntt and Amelia Gibson, died January 21, 1951 at the age of 80 in Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  He is my great-grandfather, father of my paternal grandmother.
