Yesterday, June 12, was Loving Day, when we commemorate and celebrate the 1967 United States Supreme Court decision that struck down the antimiscegenation laws in the United States, at that time still clung to in sixteen states in the South, which held that just because one person was black and another white that it was not legal for them to marry, no matter how much they loved each other. And I am thrilled to add another happy couple's marriage to my family tree.

Raymond Charles Allen, son of Clarence Allen and Agnes Viola Ledger, was born October 3, 1927 in Bordentown, Burlington County, New Jersey. He is my 5th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Allens.
Harry David Garfinkel, son of Morris Garfinkel and Mirka Ajzner, was also born October 3, 1927, but in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is my 3rd cousin 1x removed on my Meckler line through the Garfinkels.
Rufus Barker, son of Walter Barker and Carrie Bell Crawford, was born October 3, 1932 in Georgia, probably in Muscogee County. He is the 1st cousin 2x removed of my not-quite-cousin Angela Williams.
Linda Berenoff, daughter of Julius Berenoff and Lillian Gordon, was born October 3, 1947, probably in New York. She is my 2nd cousin 1x removed via the Gordons.
Simon Lackowitz and Rose Gordon, daughter of David Gordon (originally Gorodetsky) and Freeda Alterman, were married October 3, 1936 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. Rose is my 1st cousin 2x removed on my Gorodetsky line.
John Borkowski and Margaret Ann Allen, daughter of Elwood Allen and Wilma Darlene Givan, were married October 3, 1975, possibly in New Jersey. Margaret is my 5th cousin 1x removed on my Gauntt line through the Allens.
Joseph Clyde Nielson and Dena Gayle Bassett, daughter of Charles Ronald Bassett and Tina Ruth Watson, were married October 3,1986 in Clark County, Nevada. Dena is my 6th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Watsons.
Margaret S. Scott died October 3, 1900 in Lumberton, Burlington County, New Jersey at the age of 46. She was the wife of Hananiah Selah Gaunt, son of Hananiah Selah Gaunt and Abigail Atkinson, who is my great-great-granduncle.
Benjamin Gaunt, son of Benjamin Selah Gaunt and Hannah Ann Peters, died October 3, 1906 in Burlington County, New Jersey at the age of 67. He is my half 1st cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.
Norman H. Hoyer, son of Rollin Henry Hoyer and Bessie Floreen Schwier, died October 3, 1977, probably in Indiana at the age of 67. He is my 6th cousin 1x removed on my Gauntt line via the Schwiers.
Sadie Garber, daughter of Zelig Garber and Ida Mekler, died October 3, 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada at the age of 78. She is my 2nd cousin 2x removed via the Meklers.
Aaron Nathaniel Baker, son of Michael David Baker, Sr. and Carol Sue Dunn, died October 3, 2005 in Cass County, Indiana at the age of 20. He is my 2nd cousin 1x removed on my Gauntt line via the Dunns.
I find it fascinating to discover events that were going on at the same time. Two unrelated individuals, Judith Ditzenberg and Richard Thurman, were born the same day, one in Indiana, the other in California. Twenty-two years later, Judith married Richard's cousin, creating a connection between them.

Judith Maxine Ditzenberger was born October 2, 1931 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. She was the wife of Frank Eugene Gaunt, son of Rinaldo Wise Gaunt and Eulalia Marie Rice, who is my 6th cousin via the Gaunts.
Richard Alvin Thurman, son of Rothell Leaton Thurman and Bertha May Gaunt, was also born October 2, 1931, but in Monterey County, California. He is my 5th cousin 1x removed via the Gaunts.
Cheryl Lynne Abell, daughter of Kenneth Leroy Abell and Emma Evelyn Gaunt, was born October 2, 1946 in Fresno County, California. She is my 5th cousin 1x removed via the Gaunts.
