This is one of those unusual days when the number of deaths outnumbers births and marriages combined.

Births

William Mane Fox, son of John Fox and Catherine Fisher, was born May 14, 1827 in Pennsylvania, possibly in Germantown, Phliadelphia County.  He is my 3rd-great-granduncle.

Ephriam Sellers, son of William H. Sellers and Nancy L. Derr, was born May 14, 1876 in Pennsylvania.  He is my 4th cousin 3x removed.

William Bound Gauntt, Jr., son of William Bound Gauntt, Sr. and Lucy Bound, was born May 14, 1918 in New Jersey, probably in Atlantic County.  He is my 4th cousin once removed.

Janice Kay Hutson, daughter of Clifford Ellsworth Hutson and Alta Ada Gipson, was born May 14, 1938 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.  She is my 6th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Hutsons.

Twins Lauren Hope and Marni Ann Levy were born May 14, 1993, probably in New York.  They are my 3rd cousins on my Gordon line and the first twins I have found on that line.

Marriage

Harvey Zabinsky, son of Daniel Zabinsky and Beatrice Furman, and Carolyn Helaine Lewis were married on May 14, 1972 in Flushing Meadows, Queens County, New York.  Harvey is my 2nd cousin on my Meckler line thorugh the Furmans and was my mother's favorite cousin.

Deaths

Susanna Mack, daughter of Jacob Mack and Hannah Englehart, died May 14, 1862 at the age of 84, probably in Pennsylvania.   She is my 2nd cousin 6x removed.

David Gaunt, son of John Gaunt and Mary Kinsey, also died May 14, 1862, but at the age of 73 in New Jersey.  He is my 1st cousin 5x removed.

Martha Johnson Atkinson died May 14, 1945 at the age of 67 in Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.  She is the paternal great-grandmother of my 1st cousin Albert Lore.

Thomas Daniel Swain died May 14, 1994 at the age of 74, probably in Newport News or Virginia Beach, Virginia.  He was the third husband of Rachel Anna Armstrong, daughter of Joel Armstrong and Sarah Ann Lippincott, who is my paternal great-grandaunt.

Cecil Thurman Phillips, Jr. died May 14, 2001 at the age of 84 in Lawrenceburg, Anderson County, Kentucky.  He was married to Martha Ann Surran, daughter of William Earl Surran and Martha Ann Naylor, who is my 3rd cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Naylors.

Ernest Alexander Douglas Ellett died May 14, 2002 at the age of about 85 in Balwyn, Victoria, Australia.  He is the maternal grandfather of my 2nd cousin once removed Jeff Gordon.

Robert Leonard Tessin, son of Fred M. Tessin and Minnie Caroline Slentz, died May 14, 2012 at the age of 77 in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan.  He is my 6th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Slentzes.

Deborah Lee Pierce died May 14, 2015 at the age of 68 in New Port Richey, Pasco County, Florida.  She was married to Harvey Joseph Gaunt III, son of Harvey Joseph, Jr. and his first wife, who is my 3rd cousin.

Events in My Family Tree: April 13

Because this year April 13 fell on a Friday, I was curious to see which, if any, of the April 13 events in my family fell on Fridays.  It turns out that Kenneth O'Brien's birthday and the deaths of Almira Githens and Irving Gershwind were on Fridays.  Unlike the brave souls who married on April Foo's Day, apparently no one wanted to risk a Friday the 13th wedding, at least not in April.

Cornelius Sellers, son of Abraham Sellers and Sophia Bodder, was born April 13, 1793 in Franconia Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 3rd-great-granduncle.

Daniel F. Gaunt, son of Benjamin Franklin Gaunt and Elizabeth K. Frazer, was born April 13, 1848 in New Jersey, probably in Burlington County.  He is my 2nd cousin 3x removed.

Mary Emma Votaw, daughter of Daniel W. Votaw and Louisa Gaunt, was born April 13, 1881 in Wabash County, Indiana.  She is my 3rd cousin 3x removed via the Gaunts.

John Howard and Roscoe Preston Flynn, twin sons of Roscoe Sherman Flynn and Edna May Gauntt, were born April 13, 1927 in Burlington County, New Jersey, probably in Florence or Roebling.  They are my 1st cousins once removed via the Gauntts.

Ada Irene Wunder was born April 13, 1946 in Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona.  She was married to John James Hudson, son of Harry J. Hudson and Irene Elizabeth Allen, who is my 5th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Allens.

Kenneth Charles O'Brien was born April 13, 1951, possibly in New Jersey.  He was married to Carol Beth Sellers, daughter of Bertram Lynn Sellers and Anita Clarice Loveman, who is my paternal aunt.

Jason Everett Gaunt was born April 13, 1975.  He is my 6th cousin.

Ryan Mich was born April 13, 1982.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line.

David Zook and Nancy Mack, daughter of William Mack and Agnes Gantz, were married on April 13, 1817, possibly in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.  Nancy is my 1st cousin 6x removed.

Elmore Foster and Rachel Gaunt, daughter of Moses Gaunt and Rachel, were married on April 13, 1833, possibly in Evesham, Burlington County, New Jersey.  Rachel is my 1st cousin 4x removed.

Walter Rudolph Kolski and Betty Lorraine Ellett, daughter of Ellet and Clark, were married on April 13, 1954 in Redwood City, San Mateo County, California.  Betty is the mother of my 2nd cousin once removed Jeff Gordon.

Maxie Crow and Theresa Hunt, daughter of John Hunt and Lois Adele Weaver, were married on April 13, 1968, probably in Lee County, Florida.  Theresa is my 5th cousin once removed on my Gauntt line through the Weavers.

Deaths

Edwin Mortimer Sellers, son of Jesse Sellers and Mrs. Ann? (Bremeyer?) Grant, died April 13, 1865 at the age of 40 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  He is my 1st cousin 4x removed.

Nancy Mack, daughter of Jacob Mack and Hannah Englehart, died April 13, 1874 at the age of 99, probably in Pennsylvania.  She is my 2nd cousin 6x removed.

Almira B. Githens, daughter of Thomas Githens and Mary Gaunt, died April 13, 1900 at the age of 69 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.  She is my 2nd cousin 4x removed via the Gaunts.

Charles Gaunt, son of Lewis Cass Gaunt and Mary A. Kindlesparger, died April 13, 1950 at the age of 71 in Los Angeles County, California.  He is my 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Walter Clayton Gaunt, son of Arthur Lee Gaunt and Rachel Lavinia Stutsman, died April 13, 1953 at the age of 71 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana.  He is my 4th cousin 2x removed.

Irving Lawrence Gershwind died April 13, 1979 at the age of 67 in Great Neck, Nassau County, New York.  He was married to Frances Perlman, daughter of Louis Perlman and Jennie Novitsky (originally Nowicki), who is my 1st cousin 2x removed via the Novitskys.

Willie Frank Williams died April 13, 1992 at the age of about 82 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia.  He is the paternal granduncle of my not-quite-cousin Angela Williams.

Events in My Family Tree: March 15

Even though the 15th is the Ides of March, I didn't find any violent deaths in my family tree, which is a good thing.  I did, however, find more twins, two sets for this day.

Twins Susanna and William Zelley, children of Ridgway Zelley and Rebecca Gaunt, were born March 15, 1834, in New Jersey, probably in Burlington County.  They are my 2nd cousins 3x removed via the Gaunts.

Mary Elizabeth Sellers, daughter of Faber Sellers and Rosina Elizabeth, was born March 15, 1862 in Potstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  She is my 2nd cousin 3x removed.

David Michael Fitsimmons was born March 15, 1967.  He is my 5th cousin 2x removed on my Gauntt line.

Shauna Leven was born March 15, 1981, probably in Manitoba, Canada.  She is my 4th cousin on my Meckler line.

MaryLee Copestick was born March 15, 1985.  She is my 2nd cousin once removed on my Sellers line.

Twins Dara Esther and Joseph Aaron Birnboim were born March 15, 2001 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  They are my 4th cousins once removed on my Meckler line.

Marriages

Leonard Herr and Dorothy Gaynor, daughter of John Francis Gaynor and Wally Mary Ruppert, were married on March 15, 1952 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey.  Dorothy is the grandaunt of my half-sister Laurie Sellers.

Raymond Harold Rudin and Ruth Garfinkel, daughter of Jack Garfinkel and Martha Freedman, were married on March 15, 1953 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  Ruth is my 3rd cousin once removed on my Meckler line through the Garfinkels.

Peter E. Persoff, son of Jacob Persoff and Frieda Schneiderman, and Judy Lee were married on March 15, 1977 in Oakland, Alameda County, California.  Peter is my 2nd cousin 2x removed via the Schneidermans.

Death

James Gaunt, son of Hananiah Gaunt and Rebecca Mulliner, died March 15, 1828 at the age of about 36 in New Jersey.  He is my 3rd-great-granduncle.

I didn't think I had that many twins in my family tree, but this is the third set, and they've been within a week of each other:  January 21, 27, and now 28.  Is January a particularly good month for twins?

Sarah Longanecker, daughter of Daniel Longanecker and Sarah Mack, was born January 28, 1804.  She is my 3rd cousin 5x removed through the Macks.

Charles Augustus Sellers, son of Alexander Sellers and Lavinia Coppelberger, was born January 28, 1852.  He is my 3rd cousin 3x removed.

Gertrude Elnora Gaunt, daughter of Brinton Jerome Gaunt and Mabel Dobson, was born January 28, 1908, possibly in Ohio.  She is my 4th cousin 2x removed.

Twins Nora Elizabeth and Norris Everett Eckman, children of John Eckman and Martha Johnson Atkinson, were born January 28, 1916 in Westhampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.  They are the siblings of my grandaunt Bertha Poinsett Eckman and granduncle Edwin Bunting Eckman.

Perry Leslie Minuk was born January 28, 1961 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  He is my 4th cousin through my Meckler line.

Marla Ash was born January 28, 1969 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  She is married to Elliot Seth Birnboim, who is also my 4th cousin through my Meckler line.

Samantha Allen was born January 28, 1973.  She is my 5th cousin 2x removed through my Gauntt line.

Aviva Caplan was born January 28, 1975 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  She is my 3rd cousin through my Gorodetsky line.

Kacie Lynn Brailsford was born January 28, 1981.  She is another 5th cousin 2x removed through my Gauntt line.

David Hill and Maria Darstein, daughter of Abraham Darstein and Catherine Sellers, were married on January 28, 1819, probably in Pennsylvania.  Maria is my 2nd cousin 5x removed through the Sellerses.

David Gordon

David Gordon (originally Gorodetsky), son of Victor Gordon and Esther Leah Schneiderman, and Freeda Alterman were married on January 28, 1916 in Manhattan, New York County, New York.  Dave is my great-granduncle.

Stanley C. Rogers and Shirley June Gaunt, daughter of Walter Everett Gaunt and Norma Marguerite Prusso, were married on January 28, 1950 in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada.  Shirley is my 4th cousin 2x removed.

Jeffrey Allen Moss and Lainie Maureen Levinson were married on January 28, 1995 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  Jeffrey is my 4th cousin through my Meckler line.

Deaths

America Brooks, daughter of Andy/Handy Brooks and Mary, died January 28, 1939 at the age of about 76 in Juniper, Marion County, Georgia.  She is the great-great-grandmother of my not-quite-cousin Angela Williams.

Jean Wargo died January 28, 1968 at the age of 30.  She was married to Harry William Hudson, son of Harry J. Hudson and Irene Allen, who is my 5th cousin on my Gauntt line through the Allens.

William Murphy died January 28, 1992 at the age of 48 in Orlando, Orange County, Florida.  He was married to Patricia Lore, my 1st cousin through my Sellers line.
